Nature Has Changed Again
I last posted on social media from this spot six weeks ago (both videos are below). Now the distinctive sound of a distant wood thrush can be heard above the din of summer insects.
It is not only the sounds and sights that are different; the feel of the air, the smells are different, the taste of wild raspberries at the edges of the fields.
Deeper than the getting out into nature, or reconnecting with nature is this idea of intimate communion with nature, which when achieved keeps us attuned to the smallest changes as the seasons progress. That is what we have lost. When we find it, it makes us deeply aware the myopic self importance that creates many of our our social constructs.
